- What is blink®?
blink is a way to use your Chase card (credit or debit) to pay for purchases without swiping or handing over your card. By merely waving your Chase card in front of a reader anywhere you see this symbol:
you can pay without the card leaving your hand.
- Are there advantages to using blink?
Yes, there are several advantages to using blink:
- blink is fast. Speed up your time at checkout. No swiping necessary.
- blink is easy. Just hold your Chase card in front of the reader.
- blink is secure. It’s just as safe as swiping. You are protected from unauthorized purchases.1
- Are there any fees for using blink?
No. A blink transaction is treated just like any other transaction using your Chase card. There are no fees if you use blink versus having your card swiped by the merchant.
- How does blink work?
blink is a feature built into your Chase card that allows a merchant’s card reader to receive a secure signal from your card that provides all the information required to complete the transaction — all without ever leaving your hands. And of course, your Chase card with blink can still be swiped like a regular credit or debit card at millions of locations worldwide.
- How do I use blink?
It’s easy — just follow these steps:- When your purchases are totaled, hold your card up to the reader.
- If you are prompted to select credit or debit, you must select credit to blink (even for a debit card). You will not be required to enter your PIN. (If you are using your debit card, the money will still come directly out of your checking account.)
- Lights will flash and/or a tone will sound to indicate your card has been read.
- Your transaction is approved and you’re on your way.

- Is blink secure?
Absolutely! blink transactions are safe because they are protected by an additional level of encryption. Merchants’ card readers can only read a blink card when it is held within 2 inches of the reader, and the highest level of encryption protects all of your information. Plus, just as when your card is swiped, you are protected against unauthorized purchases.1
